§ 54-26. Operation of boat at unlawful speed in no wake areas of Appomattox River; procedure for installing no wake markers.

  • (a)

    No person shall operate a motorboat or vessel at such a speed as to create a wake, swell or displacement wave in the waters of the Appomattox River in any area where the placement of no wake buoys or other markers has been authorized by the state director of game and inland fisheries. A violation of this subsection shall constitute a class 4 misdemeanor.

    (b)

    Any person who owns land in the county adjoining or adjacent or contiguous to a cove on the Appomattox River may apply to the board of supervisors for a no wake buoy or other marker to be placed within the cove or river or upon land adjoining the cove or river. The board shall forward the application to the state director of game and inland fisheries, and, when approved by him, a buoy or other marker of a type so approved may be installed at the applicant's expense.
