§ 58-26. Picnic shelters.

  • (a)

    It shall be the policy of the department of parks and recreation to reserve picnic shelters. All picnic areas other than the reserved picnic shelters shall be available to the public on a first come, first served basis at no charge. All persons using parks are responsible for cleanup from their particular activity.

    (b)

    No county picnic shelter shall be reserved unless the person desiring such use shall obtain from the department of parks and recreation an application form and receive a park shelter permit after satisfactorily meeting all applicable requirements in subsection (c) of this section.

    (c)

    Reservations will not be accepted prior to January 1 of the calendar year in which the reservation date occurs. Subject to compliance with section 58-25, if applicable, persons inquiring to the department of parks and recreation concerning availability of picnic shelters will be given a temporary or tentative reservation for a ten-day period only, during which time he shall obtain from the department a picnic shelter use application form which will be completed and returned to the department with any applicable fees or any permits issued by the state alcoholic beverage control board. No reservation for use of picnic shelters shall be held by the department of parks and recreation beyond the ten-day temporary reservation period without a completed application form. Upon compliance with all applicable provisions of sections 54-25 through 54-27, a picnic shelter permit will be issued by the department and must be displayed at the picnic shelter site during the duration of its use.
