§ 66-42. Collection generally.

  • The following collection practices shall apply to collectors and to any person whose solid waste material is collected by a collector:

    (1)

    Place of collection. Solid waste containers shall be made readily accessible to the collector.

    (2)

    Collection vehicles. Every vehicle used for the collection of solid waste by a collector shall meet the minimum requirements of this subsection. It shall:

    a.

    Be equipped with a completely enclosed body constructed of metal or wood or both in combination. The use of a tarpaulin over an open-body truck shall not be permitted for the hauling of refuse but shall be permitted for other types of solid waste.

    b.

    Be equipped with a minimum five-pound capacity fire extinguisher capable of extinguishing class A and class B fires.

    c.

    Have the collector's name in letters of a contrasting color, at least four inches high, on each side of the vehicle.

    d.

    Be kept in a clean and sanitary condition.

    e.

    Display a currently issued identifying tag.
