§ 6-52. Poisoning or injuring.

  • (a)

    It shall be unlawful for any person, except the owner or his authorized agent, to administer poison to any dog or cat; to expose poison where it may be taken by any dog or cat; or to injure, disfigure, disable or kill any dog or cat, except as otherwise provided in this article or state law. The owner of any dog or cat which is injured or killed contrary to the provisions of this article or state law by any person shall be entitled to recover the value thereof or the damage done thereto in an appropriate action at law from such person.

    (b)

    Any person who violates this section shall be guilty of a class 1 misdemeanor.
