§ 6-81. Required; term; tax; disposition of funds.

(a)

It shall be unlawful for any person to own a dog four months old or older in the county, unless such dog is licensed. A county dog license shall run from January 1 to December 31, inclusive, and shall be obtainable and payable at the office of the county treasurer and shall be as follows:

(1)

For a male dog .....$ 10.00

(2)

For a female dog .....10.00

(3)

For an unsexed (successfully spayed) female dog .....5.00

(4)

For an unsexed (successfully neutered) male dog .....5.00

(5)

Duplicate dog license .....1.00

(6)

For a kennel of 1—20 dogs .....30.00

(7)

For a kennel of 21 or more dogs .....50.00

(b)

All money collected by the county treasurer for dog license taxes shall be credited to the county's general fund deposited in an approved county depository selected by the treasurer and recorded in a separate revenue account.

(c)

No license tax shall be levied on any dog that is trained and serves as a guide dog for a blind person, that is trained and serves as a hearing dog for a deaf or hearing impaired person or that is trained and serves as a service dog for a mobility-impaired person.

(d)

A dog license may be purchased for up to a three-year period as long as the period does not exceed the period of a valid rabies inoculation, in the amounts and for the dogs specified as follows:

(1)

For a male dog .....$30.00

(2)

For a female dog .....30.00

(3)

For an unsexed (successfully spayed) female dog .....15.00

(4)

For an unsexed (successfully neutered) male dog .....15.00
