§ 82-146. Denial of service.

Latest version.
  • (a)

The water purveyor may deny or discontinue water service to a consumer whenever, in the opinion of the purveyor, the provision or continuance of service would pose a health hazard, a pollution hazard or a system hazard to the water system. Water service shall not be provided to such premises until the required backflow prevention device has been installed by the consumer.

    (b)

If inspection of the premises reveals that the required backflow prevention device has been removed from the consumer's water system or has been bypassed, that a cross connection exists on the premises, or if continued service to the premises causes the pressure in the purveyor's water system to be lowered below ten pounds per square inch gauge (70 kPa), the purveyor shall take positive action to ensure that the water system is adequately protected at all times. Water service to such premises shall not be restored until the deficiencies have been corrected or eliminated in accordance with the commonwealth waterworks regulations and to the satisfaction of the water purveyor.
